Meet Hannah: Your guide to confident learning

Hello! I am Hannah, the founder of The Learning Nest. Based in I've created an online tutoring business dedicated to providing a calm, holistic, and confidence-building learning experience. My specialisation lies in key stage 1, 2, and 3, with a particular focus on EAL, IELTS, 7 plus, 11 plus, common entrance, and SATs preparation.

One child I worked with came to me convinced they “just weren’t good at maths.” They’d lost confidence over time because they found new topics increasingly difficult, and every mistake reinforced the idea that they simply couldn’t do it. After spending some time getting to know how they approached maths, it became clear that the issue wasn’t ability at all—it was gaps in some of the foundational skills that later learning depended on. Rather than rushing ahead, we took a step back and rebuilt those foundations. We practised number facts and recall through fun games and interactive activities, making learning feel much less intimidating. As those key skills became more secure, I gradually introduced new concepts in small, manageable steps, celebrating every success along the way. Over time, their confidence completely transformed. They went from avoiding maths and doubting themselves to tackling new challenges with a positive attitude and a willingness to have a go.
